How will you #PressforProgress in 2018?
The International Women’s Day 2018 campaign theme is #PressforProgress.
With the World Economic Forum’s 2017 Global Gender Gap Report findings telling us that gender parity is over 200 years away, there has never been a more important time to keep motivated and “press for progress.”
We asked our #girlbossyeg attendees, panelists and volunteers to share how they will “press for progress” in 2018 on a pink sticky note and place it on our #pressforprogress wall.
Here are some of the things that they said:
- “Advocating for intersectional equity in the workplace”
- “Always speak my truth”
- “Amplify her voice”
- “Calling people out for micro-aggressions against women”
- “Educate, agitate, organize”
- “Employ people fairly and have policies in place for accountability”
- “Leading the Graduate Students’ Association and show other women we can do this”
- “Make GBA+ a mandatory course in all the student groups I am part of”
- “Making sure every voice in company meetings are heard”
- “Share my experiences and bring other women up with me”
- “Smash the patriarchy”
- “Start a safe conversation”
- “Stop letting guys talk over me in class”
- “Stop suffering in silence”
- “Support and create safe spaces”
- “Support the minimum wage increase to $15/hr by speaking out”
- “Support women by offering encouragement and working with them not against them”
Minister of Service Alberta and Status of Women, the Honourable Stephanie McLean even participated in the #pressforprogress wall!
